Combining beautiful harmonies and unique electronic production, Sonos has created a genre of their own. 2012 saw the band working on their new album of all original music, which will be independently produced by the group's very own Christopher Given Harrison. The five vocalists have combined their passions for songwriting and innovative vocal production on this third studio release, as well as expanding upon the use of electronic effects in their live show. The new album will be released in 2013.
Emerging in the fall of '09 from the Los Angeles vocal scene, Sonos turned the a cappella genre on its head with bold vocal+electronic interpretations of popular indie material. On their Verve Records debut SonoSings (2009) the group reinvented artists like Radiohead, Bon Iver, Bjork, Fleet Foxes, Imogen Heap, and dazzled with a dark, trip-hop take on a Jackson 5 classic. Sonos also put out a holiday album December Songs (2010), which includes their beautiful renditions of the classics along with a couple of originals.
Special appearances over the past three years include live radio sessions on NPR's Weekend Edition, KCRW, BBC Americana, Studio 360 and Sirius/XM; performances at SXSW '11, Sundance '10, TED, Celtic Connections, ASCAP Awards and accompanying Sara Bareilles at the Orpheum Theater; plus performances at MojaMoja's Pre-Grammy Brunch '12, colleges, clubs and performing arts spaces all around the country. Sonos also made an appearance for millions of viewers on season 3 of "The Sing Off" on NBC.
